Mighty Mighty Bosstones expand reunion plans
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones [ tickets ] continue to ramp up their return to active performing status with a new co-headlining run in July with the Dropkick Murphys [ tickets ].The ska/punk outfit, which returned from a three-year hiatus last year and has performed a handful of shows since last fall, will kick off the outing July 7 in Chicago. The Bosstones/Murphys tangle will stick close to home for the two Boston bands on the first part of the tour before closing with two California dates later in July.In August, the Bosstones will handle a slot at the Punk Rocks 2008 festival in Morrison, CO, along with NOFX, Bouncing Souls and others. All of the band's currently scheduled dates are included below.The group hasn't released a full-length album of new material since 2002's "A Jackknife to a Swan," which it toured behind extensively before announcing an indefinite hiatus late the following year. Vocalist Dicky Barrett became the studio announcer for ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" late-night talk show, while bassist and co-founder Joe Gittleman recorded two albums with his side project, Avoid One Thing, before that band announced its own hiatus.The Bosstones recorded three new songs last year as part of a b-sides and rarities collection, "Medium Rare," which hit stores in December. The new tracks--"This List," "Don't Worry Desmond Dekker" and "The One With the Woes All Over It"--were all recorded last fall following the band's October reunion announcement.
